Spoke 5 Dissemination and Exploitation Workshop | Industrial and Digital Transition Networks
On 11 November 2025, the final event of RESTART’s Spoke 5 – Industrial and Digital Transition Networks, was held at BI-REX in Bologna, organized by CNIT/WiLab on behalf of the University of Bologna. The day, dedicated to Proof of Concept (PoC) demonstrations and technical visits, represented a moment of synthesis of the three years of activities carried out within the Spoke, focused on the industrial and digital transition of manufacturing networks.
During the opening session, it was recalled how Spoke 5, coordinated by the University of Bologna, pursued the objective of accelerating the digital transformation of the manufacturing sector through the development of new industrial applications, innovative methodologies for next-generation wireless networks, and intelligent solutions for the automation of production systems.
Throughout the morning, the results of the structural project were presented:
IN – Industrial Networks
and the four targeted projects that contributed to achieving the objectives of the Spoke:
INCHNET – INnovative CHannel coding for modern and green NETworks
MOSS – Macroscopic modeling of scattering from static and reconfigurable smart skins
MoVeOver – Wireless communications for seamless mobility in connected vehicles for the day-3 and over
TeleSmEg – Telecom as a service in the next SMart Energy Grid
Significant time was dedicated to presenting the PoCs developed by the projects.
The IN project showcased an integrated PoC involving industrial robots, millimeter-wave radar, UWB technologies, and a Digital Twin of the industrial environment provided by BI-REX. TeleSmEg, MOSS, INCHNET, and MoVeOver also presented their PoCs, clearly illustrating the results achieved.
The event was attended in person by around sixty participants. Following the PoC presentations, attendees visited the BI-REX pilot line, one of the eight Industry 4.0 Competence Centers promoted by MIMIT, where videos and demonstrators produced by the Spoke 5 projects were shown. The day concluded with a visit to Ducati’s production facilities.
