EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Building skills for the technologies of tomorrow.

RESTART develops training and professional development opportunities to help professionals, companies and organisations understand emerging technologies, strengthen their capabilities and turn innovation into practical applications.

Our activities build on the research expertise and technological capabilities developed within the RESTART ecosystem and respond to evolving industry needs, combining advanced specialist training, professional development and training opportunities for companies.

WHAT WE OFFER

Specialist training

Within the framework of Action 1.4.3B of the PN RIC 2021–2027, RESTART develops specialist training programmes focused on the technologies and skills needed for the evolution of communication networks and systems.

The programmes cover, in particular:

  • Wireless and physical-layer technologies — radio propagation, transmission techniques, MIMO, radio access and technologies for mobile networks and beyond 5G/6G;
  • Wireless and higher layers — networking, radio resource management, edge/cloud, network softwarisation, AI for networking and advanced network services;
  • Optical networks — optical transport, photonic networking, fibre infrastructure, optical switching and ultra-high-capacity networks;
  • Electromagnetism — propagation, radiating systems, electromagnetic compatibility, and RF and microwave technologies.

The programmes are designed around defined learning objectives and learning outcomes and include scientific coordination and quality monitoring of the content and activities.

Short courses and professional training

Short, focused training programmes for professionals and companies, addressing specific technologies, skills and market needs.

Courses may also include competence certification tools, such as digital badges, and will combine research expertise, industrial experience and practical applications.

Tutorials and technology updates

Short, practical training sessions focusing on emerging technologies, regulatory developments and topical issues, providing professionals and organisations with immediately applicable knowledge and tools.

Master’s programmes, specialist courses and online training

RESTART also promotes the development of university Master’s programmes, specialist courses and online learning pathways, including the use of artificial intelligence tools, to broaden access to specialist training and meet different needs for in-depth learning.

UPCOMING TRAINING ACTIVITIES

TUTORIALS

NIS2: From Regulation to Cybersecurity

A practical introduction to the NIS2 Directive and its implications for organisations.

The tutorial combines two complementary perspectives:

  • The regulatory framework — key requirements, responsibilities and compliance implications;
  • The technical perspective — measures, technologies and practical approaches to strengthening the security and resilience of digital infrastructures.

Agent Coding

An introduction to AI-assisted software development and agent-based coding, exploring how new AI-based tools and approaches can support developers and organisations throughout the software development lifecycle.

SHORT COURSES FOR PROFESSIONALS AND COMPANIES

RESTART is developing a programme of short, focused courses for both individual professionals and companies.

The courses will address specific technological and business needs, combining research expertise, practical applications and an industrial perspective.

The programme is being developed in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano team and its Digital Innovation Observatories, with the aim of connecting technological expertise, business needs and evolving market requirements.

THE RESTART TRAINING & EDUCATION FORUM

Connecting industry needs, research expertise and new skills.

RESTART is setting up a Training & Education Forum dedicated to discussing training needs and emerging skills in the telecommunications and digital technology sectors.

The Forum brings together universities, research organisations, companies, foundations and incubators that are members of the RESTART Foundation, with the aim of:

  • identifying emerging skills and training gaps;
  • sharing information on available and upcoming courses;
  • developing new training initiatives in response to industry needs;
  • connecting research expertise with professional development;
  • supporting upskilling and reskilling;
  • coordinating and enhancing the training offer across the RESTART ecosystem.

The Forum will be launched in September 2026 and will also involve collaboration with Asstel and CEFRIEL.
