The seventh annual meeting of the National Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications took place on 8 and 9 April in Rome. The event, which this year took the title “Telecommunications of the Future”, was co-organised by the RESTART Foundation.

The Piccolo Eliseo Theatre in Rome made its stage available for the 8 April meeting “CNIT between history and the future: perspectives for research and researchers in the field of telecommunications”.

The first part of the day retraced the Consortium’s 30 years, celebrating its history from its foundation to its present activities and bringing to the stage success stories of research careers within CNIT.

The second part of the event focused on the future and perspectives of young researchers after the RESTART Programme, outlining the lines of research for the Telecommunications of the future with panels dedicated to the companies that are part of the RESTART Partnership and practical tips on how to write a successful project.

The event on 9 April, entitled “Telecommunications of the Future: Solutions for Telecommunications & Telecommunications as a Solution”, took place in the Greenhouse of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome and was attended by leading figures from the world of research, industry, and institutions, proposing Telecommunications as the basis for the relaunch of the country’s economy.

The RESTART Research and Development Programme played a central role in the conference themes: its main activities and the most relevant initiatives, promoted by the Project itself, were presented, including the Telecommunications Olympics ‘TLC Games’ (organised by CNIT and promoted by RESTART).

On this occasion, Antonio Capone (RESTART Scientific Coordinator), Alessandro Gropelli (Connect Europe) and Marta Valsecchi (Osservatori Digital Innovation) presented on stage the second version of the RESTART Whitepaper: a techno-economic vision of the future of telecommunications.
