RESTART Spoke 4 Startup Showcase: 24 projects for digital transition in telecommunications
Yesterday, the Mentorship program of Spoke 4 of the RESTART project, an initiative funded by the PNRR that aims to promote research, innovation, and technology transfer in the telecommunications sector, came to an end at OGR Torino. The program, promoted by the Polytechnic University of Turin in collaboration with Plug and Play Tech Center, involved 24 entrepreneurial projects selected from startups, university and academic spin-offs, SMEs, and research groups, offering them an intensive five-month course focused on cutting-edge technologies such as 5G/6G, IoT, artificial intelligence, edge computing, cybersecurity, and satellites.
The program included entrepreneurial training, business development tools, and support for the creation of new startups, as well as the consolidation and market expansion of existing businesses. The activities were carried out in a hybrid format and included free mentorship from industry experts, workshops, market validation sessions, advanced technical support, and access to a qualified network of industrial partners, corporations, and investors.
The closing event, “Startup Showcase,” held at OGR Torino, was an opportunity to present the 24 entrepreneurial projects that completed the program to the public. Each team had the opportunity to showcase their achievements and development prospects to an audience of investors, corporate partners, research institutions, and institutional stakeholders. The solutions presented ranged from the optimization of next-generation networks to climate risk management, from industrial cybersecurity to satellite telecommunications, with a potential impact on key sectors for the future of the country.

“One of the missions of the RESTART program is to make young entrepreneurs protagonists of the digital transition, offering them support to transform innovative ideas into concrete business solutions,” says Lorenzo Santilli, head of Mission 4 – Support for Start-ups and Spin-offs. “Solutions that RESTART’s Spoke 4 proposes in particular in the field of programmable networks and services and the media of the future, to offer increasingly advanced applications and content that can improve our daily lives and our ability to operate in complex social and economic scenarios,” says Prof. Carla Fabiana Chiasserini, coordinator of Spoke 4 of the RESTART project.
“We are proud to have worked alongside RESTART’s Spoke 4 on this journey, supporting 24 entrepreneurial projects in the validation of solutions, the construction of solid business models, and the connection with the industrial ecosystem. Initiatives like this demonstrate that innovation can really accelerate when a bridge is created between research, startups, and industry,” says Tommaso Maschera, Director of Plug and Play Italy.
